Bury, Lancashire
If you’re after a breakfast spot in Bury that gets the basics right and makes it feel like a proper treat, The Lamppost is well worth a visit. We popped in as a small group and left full, happy, and still talking about the drinks (more on that in a second).
What we ordered
We went for a good mix of brunch favourites:
2x Baked avocado with eggs and streaky bacon
1x Full English (with marmalade on the side)
Drinks: 1 latte, 1 flat white, and 1 pot of tea
Everything arrived looking the part, and it ate even better. The baked avocado dishes were the kind of plate you don’t want to rush—rich, comforting, and balanced nicely by the bacon. The Full English did exactly what it should: classic, satisfying, and the marmalade was a lovely little extra that made it feel a bit more “special” than standard.
The drinks (those cup sizes)
A quick shoutout to the coffees and tea: the cup sizes are amazing. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a big difference—especially when you’re settling in for a proper catch-up.
Atmosphere & service
The vibe is friendly and relaxed, and it’s also dog friendly, which always adds to the warmth of a place. Service matched the setting—welcoming, easygoing, and exactly what you want on a breakfast run.
Price
Total bill: £59.90 for the food and drinks above, which felt fair for the quality and the overall experience.
It was a wonderful touch to have the owner on site walking round making sure everyone was happy. Thank you Mark.
